Our mission is to convince Americans of the sanctity of every human life — born and unborn. The murder of Dr. Tiller does not serve that cause.

The irony about the election of our first black president, an irony which I wish did not exist, is that while blacks have risen from the indignities and injustice of slavery in which their bodies were sold and consumed as property, and have endured segregation and second-class citizen status and racial discrimination, and have now one of their own elected to the highest office in the land, this very president-elect, Barack Obama, will increase the death toll among black human beings if he fulfills his promise to enact a Freedom of Choice Act, which will serve as a firewall around Roe v. Wade, the Dred Scott decision of our times. Helping to fund abortions also will likely disproportionately increase the number of black victims consumed by this holocaust. Someone might point out that policies about abortion, too, in this post-racial age of enlightenment, should be colorblind, so anyone who cares about the skin color of its victims is a racist, and that appeals to blacks about not aborting black babies is an appeal to a presumed racism on their part.

1. Upon recommendation I bought Flame’s latest album entitled Our World Redeemed. Amazing Christian rap. I especially like the last track, Joyful Noise, and number seven, Hold On. Deeply and richly biblical. Powerful.

Dr. Russell Moore presented a very moving treatise against abortion from the first chapters of the Gospel of Matthew in Southern Seminary chapel on October 16 entitled “Joseph Is a Single-Issue Evangelical: The Father of Jesus, the Cries of the Helpless, and Change You Can Believe In.” Definitely worth your time. 3. Al Mohler just today preached a very timely message here in Southeastern chapel on How Not to Raise a Pagan fromDeuteronomy 6. Listen to the MP3 or watch the video (MP4). Your children need to know that “God kills people.”
4. On the latest edition of The White Horse Inn Dr. Michael Horton and company give unique Election Coverage. No mention of Obama or McCain here; only the biblical concept of election presented from a decidedly reformed standpoint with plenty of helpful discussion.
5. If you listen to nothing else from this list, download the interview with Burl Cain, Warden of Louisiana State Penitentiary at Angola, on The Drew Marshall Show. The testimony of the power of the gospel to transform lives that is taking place right now at this prison in Louisiana will astound you. It could only be God.

The secular media and some pollsters are: 1) arguing that many evangelicals are considering voting for Senator Barack Obama and 2) attempting to provide a rationale for why they could morally justify voting for him. Attached is a lengthy and compelling argument by Professor Robert P. George of Princeton University that puts to rest such “foolish talk.” Read this thoughtful response and see if you can find it morally conscionable to vote for “a president of death.”

One woman off the street who also happens to be six months pregnant sounds off on the issue, after the reporter confirms that the lady believes it’s OK to have a drink every now and then while pregnant. Her reasoning? “I grew up in Europe and so they’re a little bit more lax about it over there…so it doesn’t seem like too big of a problem to me.” Let me get this straight: it’s OK to drink while pregnant because Europe is lax about it; therefore no problem. Right.

The very next interviewee is a doctor. His (professional) opinion? “There is no safe amount of alcohol during pregnancy.” But, Mr. Doctor, they’re lax about it in Europe.

The closing remarks by the reporter are telling. “Doctors say that no alcohol at all would be the recommendation…but restrictions are tough, so the occasional beer or glass of wine…every couple of weeks…probably will not hurt the fetus.” Let me get this straight: let’s disregard the people who know what they’re talking about (doctors), because, hey, restrictions are tough and we will probably not hurt our unborn child. What!

This seems to be similar to the abortionists cry that it’s a woman’s right to choose what happens to her body even if it means that the unborn child she carries dies. After all, it’s my body. I can choose. Having a baby, after all, is a restriction, and restrictions are tough.

Where is self-control and self-sacrifice and the value of life? Mothers should be pleading that others not drink while pregnant, because, “mom-to-be, there’s a baby in there!” Is it really too much of a restriction to not drink alcohol? No, but it is too much of a restriction for us humans to think of someone else besides ourselves. We got to look out for number one, right?

Sad. What are we destined for if we refuse to protect the precious and vulnerable among us, let alone the next generation?

Since this is a travesty, horrifying and saddening for family and all involved, how much more should we be saddened and horrified by the heinous crime of desecrating the human startings of an unborn baby?
